General Info

SBLL Buddy Day is a tradition that all players love: we pair up a Majors (or AAA) team with its corresponding TBall team, and have the Majors players on the field with their TBall counterparts.  Although we can't have our usual festivities that normally go along with this day (special food vendors, bounce houses, etc), we are going to have "Buddy Day" games this Saturday and next.

Buddy Day has been a big part of the SBLL experience over the years.  We need your help to make this memorable for our players.  Below are some of the details to consider to prep for the 5/15 and 5/22 Buddy Days.  Pictures and treats are encouraged!

Who is Involved:  All 6 T-Ball Teams, all 5 Majors Teams, 1 AAA Team

How will this impact the schedule:  Changes to T-ball game times on 5/15 and 5/22; warm-ups for Majors games and one AAA game will be shortened to 30 minutes

Format:  Majors Team arrives 15 minutes prior to T-Ball game, helps warm-up players, and then “buddies” up with T-Ball player while batting, running bases, and in the field.  After game, Majors players leave for their game.  T-Ball players and families are invited to watch their “buddies” play.

Youth Engagement Events

We have been offered a fun opportunity from a local SBLL alum, Kyle Grozen, who now works with the Oakland A's as a Coordinator for youth baseball and softball programs.  Kyle is hosting a few live Zoom MLB player Q&A sessions in May.  These sessions are focused on character development for youth athletes, not skill development.  He'll be asking the guest MLB players about the mentality it takes for Major League success, and will also open the chat to questions from attendees.

Currently two sessions are scheduled:  Thursday, May 6th (for ages 8 and under) and Wednesday May 26th (for ages 9-13), both at 4:30pm.  To register, please click HERE.  The registration password is stomper00.

In 2018, the Board of Directors of the Solana Beach Little League voted to award a $2000 scholarship to a former player of the league to support college tuition. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a college-bound individual, based upon number of years played in SBLL, any volunteer or paid work experience performed for SBLL, and a submitted essay (maximum of 500 words) describing the individual's little league experience and how SBLL impacted her/his life.

Scholarship submissions will be accepted from April 1 - June 15, 2021 (deadline). The winner will be announced by August 1, 2021.
